Heavy Rigid Truck Licence Requirements

You must, have held a Provisional or Open C Class (Car) Licence for a period of 24 months or;
Pay the appropriate fee and pass the Heavy Vehicle Knowledge Test with Service NSW or Queensland Transport (this is not required if you already hold a Heavy Vehicle Licence).
Pay the appropriate fee and pass the practical Heavy Vehicle Driving Test with Service NSW or Queensland Transport (the vehicle for this test must have a GVM of greater than 15 Tonnes).

Drive Large Vehicles

Drive trucks and vehicles with 3 or more axles and over 8T GVM.

Obtain HR Licence

Pass your Heavy Rigid (HR) Licence Test in QLD or NSW HVCBA course which will allow you to drive a large range of heavy vehicles.

Complete the Test In Our Automatic Truck

If you have a manual car licence and only wanting to obtain a Condition B (Synchromesh) licence, you may want to complete you test in the automatic to easily obtain your Heavy Rigid Truck Licence.

Upgrade To A Manual Licence

If you have an automatic car licence and want a HR Truck Licence you may consider completing your test in our Heavy Rigid Synchromesh Truck. When you have completed your test in our manual truck, you will also have a manual car licence.

3 Types Of HR Licences

HR Condition A

A licence restricting you to drive an automatic vehicle.

HR Condition B

A licence allowing you to drive synchromesh and automatic gearbox trucks.

HR Unrestricted

This licence permits you to drive trucks with any type of gearbox, including non-synchromesh gearboxes like the 18-speed Road Ranger, which requires double clutching.
